Waimanalo Beach - Windward Coast Oahu Beach
This stunning slice of sand is located about a 45-minute drive from world-famous Waikiki Beach but it offers a different experience in terms of hustle and bustle. There are plenty more areas around town where lounging under sunny skies will feel just as good - Waimanalo Beach is just one such area with calm waters which is perfect for swimming, boogie boarding or bodysurfing. If you'd prefer remain on land, Waimanalo Beach is the ideal location for a walk... a very long stroll! At approximately 3 miles long, Waimanalo boasts Oahu's longest continuous white-sand beach. Large sections of the beach are covered by ironwood trees, providing welcome relief from the hot heat throughout the summer months.
Because of its position on the Windward Coast, it may be very windy here for long periods of time throughout the year. If you want to come here for a picnic during the winter, bring a light jacket, particularly if you have little children with you. Isn't it true that this beach is really stunning? Did we mention that TV shows have been filmed here? It is so gorgeous that it has been used as a filming location for television programs such as "Baywatch Hawaii" and "Magnum P.I."
The beach is located on Highway 72 in East Oahu, and it offers amenities such as restrooms, showers (including outdoor ones), picnic tables with seating for people who want some peace-and quiet while enjoying their day at the shoreline. For extra fun or adventure there are lifeguards present in case anything goes wrong when swimming out too far into waves--they're always ready to lend assistance if needed
