Sherwood Beach, A Quiet O’ahu Beach
The spacious, tranquil Sherwood Beach is a hidden gem in Oahu. Tucked away off the main path, Sherwood Beach is a wonderful stretch of beach backed by a densely forested area known as Sherwood Forest. While this beach park is officially named Waimanalo Bay Beach Park (not to be confused with the neighbouring Waimanalo Beach Park), most residents still refer to it as Sherwoods and throng to the beach on weekends and holidays.
The name “Sherwood” fits the beach well since tourists must pass through a huge Ironwood pine forest that stretches between the parking lots and the shore in order to reach there. The beach's moniker, "Sherwood's," is appropriate since tourists must pass through a huge Ironwood pine forest that stretches between the parking lots and the shore in order to reach there. Ironwoods are endemic to Australia, and their evergreen needles may grow to be as long as two feet in length at times, but they are still classified as pine trees. Passing from a pine forest and onto this length of pristine white sand creates a striking contrast, and the additional cover makes it easier to gauge your sun exposure level.
This beautiful beach is a great spot for the wedding ceremony as this is not a popular tourist destination. During the week, you may find the beach almost completely empty, so it is easy to understand why many couples conduct their wedding at Sherwood Beach. This is one of our favourite coastal secrets, thanks to the grove of ironwood pines that stands out wonderfully against the beach's fine, white sand and the clear blue seas of the Pacific Ocean. In the Aloha State, it's rare to come across a forest as lovely as this one, especially so near to one of the most beautiful beaches. On the weekends, it is a great idea to camp at Sherwood Beach. What are you waiting for if you haven't already paid a visit to this isolated location?
