Ke Iki Beach - One Of The Most Beautiful Beaches of North Shore Oahu
Ke Iki Beach, not to be mistaken with Kauai's Keiki Cove, is a lovely white sand beach near Haleiwa on Oahu's North Shore. The beach is located off Ke Iki Road, right off Kamehameha Highway, and has approximately a mile of fine white sand with a rocky reef at the west end.
The seclusion of the beach makes it less crowded and more enjoyable than other popular beaches in this area such as Sunset or Pipeline. However, you may still experience congestion during weekends so make sure to come early if you want a spot on one of their limited parking lots.
There are a few shade trees behind the beach, but these places are quickly occupied by early birds, so bring an umbrella if you are arriving late and cannot handle the heat.
Ke Iki Beach is a beautiful spot to spend some quality time in the sun. The waters here can be calm most days, making it safe for swimming and snorkeling - but sometimes winter conditions make waves reach up as high as 20 feet. When entering the water, always proceed with caution and follow all "no swimming" warnings placed by lifeguards during hazardous circumstances. During the winter, the beach is also a wonderful place to go whale watching.
Besides from swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the scenery, the beach is also one of the few dog-friendly beaches in the region, enabling pet owners to play with their four-legged buddies. Be aware that showers, toilets, and other facilities are not available on this beach, although they are close to other beaches.
Bring lots of water and sunscreen to keep you cool under the scorching sun. You may bring your own food or purchase it from local shops and small restaurants.
If you're looking for a place to sunbathe, snorkel, or play with your dog on a weekday, go down to Ke Iki Beach. Bring your sun protections and and be sure to get there early before the crowd swarm and ruin your sunshine antics.
