Great Facts About Papailoa Beach
After the shooting of the TV series Lost on the island, Papailoa Beach, also known as "Police Beach", became quite famous. It is situated on Oahu's north coast. The beach was named "Police Beach" because the police department held a lease to utilize it for leisure purposes. Papailoa Beach is a long beach with white sand and shallow reef lines all around the coastline, making it excellent for swimming.
Visitors to Papailoa Beach are few and far between, but those who do visit are rewarded with a beautiful beach. Boating and surfing are the most popular water activities on Papailoa, but the surrounding region is also excellent for hiking and golfing. There are numerous surf locations offshore, including the renowned Himalayas, named after two big-wave surfers in the late 1950s who are said to have ridden the world's largest surf and called the area after the world's tallest mountains.
