Camping at Malaekahana Beach Campground
There are many sites to camp on Oahu, but if you haven't visited the Malaekahana Beach Campground, you should! Malaekahana Beach Campground is a lovely beach front camping area on Oahu's north coast near Kahuku.
On Oahu's North Shore, the Malaekahana Beach Campground provides some of the finest camping sites, facilities, and activities in Hawaii! Malaekahana Beach Campground has something for everyone, whether you like sleeping beneath the stars in your tent or in a plantation hut or suite for elegance and comfort. Your back to nature event is only a reservation away, with up to 74+ campsites providing a broad variety of large sites and open spaces with picnic tables, water spouts, and fire pits.
What is camping in Hawaii if not to participate in outdoor leisure activities? Swimming, kayaking, stand up paddling, body surfing, and surfing are just a few of the activities available to enhance your North Shore experience.
Swimming and bodysurfing are popular activities in Malaekahana Bay. The waves aren't as huge as they are on the North Shore, but it's still a lot of fun. On weekends, the beach may become crowded, although it is generally quieter during the week, particularly farther south. The northern portion of the bay, however, is the ideal for swimming since the nearshore ocean bottom is sandy here. A coral reef may be seen farther south, near the beach houses.
Most campsites on Oahu need permits, which must be acquired in advance at the State Park Office. It is best to make your reservation as soon as possible. They are often booked out during high seasons (June to August, December to January, and lengthy holiday weekends). A tent campsite now costs $9.41 + tax per person per night. Kama'aina (Hawaii residents) discounts are available.
