Historical and Cultural Center
Located on the North Shore of Oahu, Haleiwa is a small beachfront town. Numerous surfing competitions are held in Haleiwa Beach every year, so the town is sometimes known as the surfing capital of the world. With rich volcanic soils, freshwater wetlands and coastal flats, the region became home to immigrants from several countries around the world including Japan, China, Korea, Portugal, Norway, Scotland and the Philippines. This is the reason why the area has a lush and diverse cultural identity.
Influenced by the Waialua Sugar Company, Haleiwa Town is home to 34 historic buildings which feature plantation architectural styles. Many shopping places, courthouses and visitors centres are located in quaint historic facilities. Haleiwa was designated as a historic, cultural and scenic district by the state of Hawaii in 1984.

Haleiwa Beach Park and Pua’ena Point Beach Park are the two great beach parks in Haleiwa with beautiful sky and stunning views. Both locals and visitors head to Haleiwa for some great wave action. With surf from 6 ft., it’s great to surf or watch the waves here. Many major surfing competitions are held in Haleiwa, and sometimes the town is considered as a surfing capital. Moreover, Haleiwa is a favourite spot to take some photos of the natural beauty and wave action.
