Explore the Waimanalo Coast of O’ahu - A Must-Do on Oahu
Waimanalo is a small, rural community sandwiched between the Koolau mountain range and Waimanalo Bay on Oahu's eastern side. Visitors to this lush island often bypass it for its larger neighbor of Kailua town or drive through when heading towards Makapuu Point which sits just south but there are plenty more things you should see in Waimea!
The beautiful beaches and friendly residents of Waimanalo make it an excellent place to spend time during your vacation on O’ahu. The community has gorgeous white sand beaches that offer guaranteed honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles).
Waimnalo Bay Beah Park
This traditional Hawaiian beach on Oahu's eastern coast is ideal for a lengthy beach stroll around Waimanalo Bay, followed by a swim in the largely sheltered blue waters. Waimanalo Bay is Oahu's longest beach, spanning more than 5 miles along the windward coast from Wailea Point to Makapuu and offering spectacular views of the magnificent Koolau mountains. Waimanalo Bay Beach Park is one of three notable beaches on the vast Waimanalo Bay. Bellows Field Beach Park and Waimanalo Beach Park are the other two.
Be careful when swimming off the coast because it can be dangerous. Strong currents and deep water are just two examples of why you should pay attention where your swim, but sometimes even beaches with warning signs like Waimanalo Beach Park get crowded on weekends! Watch out for anything valuable in case something happens while were away from shore- don’t leave valuables in your car.
With its stunning blue sea, Waimanalo Bay distinguishes itself from other beaches on the Hawaiian islands. Only a few beaches in Hawaii have such a stunning beauty, and this one is one of them. To fully appreciate this beach, you have to see it in person, particularly for the powdery smooth sand that makes it so unique.
