Banzai Pipeline - Ehukai Beach Park O’ahu
Banzai Pipeline facts
Rated as one of the best beaches on the North Shore of O’ahu, Banzai Pipeline or Ehukai Beach Park is a must-stop destination on the island of O’ahu. The beach is made up of soft white and beige sand. There are lifeguards on duty along the beach, and visitors can find bathrooms and showers here, too.
The Banzai Pipeline lies above a shallow but cavernous chain of underwater reefs. When the waves rush toward the reef, large air bubbles rise from the caverns toward the water’s surface, creating big and scenic barrelling waves.
Activities at Banzai Pipeline
Summertime: Good time for snorkeling
When summertime comes, the ocean conditions are ideal for a swim and snorkel at Banzai Pipeline. Remember to bring your snorkel gear as the calm water allow you to access some best reefs on O’ahu island.
Moreover, visitors can relax, listen to the sound of the waves and enjoy the spectacular views here.
Wintertime: Best time of year for Banzai Pipeline
World Surf League, Triple Crown of Surfing, Billabong Pipeline Masters, and other International Surfing Contests are held here in winter months. The barrel-like waves make Banza incredibly dangerous for most ocean activities, excluding surfing. However, you need to be an excellent and brave surfer to survive on this beach. It is easy to fall off your board here, so only ride on these waves if you are confident in your skills.
Visitors can check the calendar to check whether a surfing competition is taking place at Bonza. It is a great experience to watch professional surfers from all around the world right off the shore of the beach. It can be overcrowded with visitors on big days from October to March, and sometimes traffic and parking can be a nightmare. It is better to visit this beach on weekdays.
